Zomato secures Rs 8,500 Cr via QIP
Zomato Limited announced on Friday that it has raised Rs 8,500 crore through a Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) of equity shares. Last week, the foodtech firm received shareholders’ approval for the fundraise. The issuance involved 33,64,73,755 equity shares at Rs 252.62 each, including a premium of Rs 251.62 per share. This issuance price represents a 5% discount on the determined floor price of Rs 265.91 per share, the company informed in its stock exchange filings.
Australia's world-first social media ban for children under 16 attracts mixed reaction
Australians reacted on Friday with a mixture of anger and relief to a social media ban on children under 16 that the government says is world-leading, but which tech giants like TikTok argue could push young people to "darker corners of the internet". The law forces tech giants from Instagram and Facebook owner Meta Platforms to TikTok to stop minors from logging in or face fines of up to A$49.5 million ($32 million).
Honasa Consumer shares hit 10% upper circuit amid high volume
Shares of Honasa Consumer (Mamaearth) hit the 10% upper circuit at Rs 251.5 in Thursday's trade, backed by heavy volumes, on the NSE. A total of 17.6 lakh shares worth Rs 43.94 crore changed hands. Honasa shares have fallen nearly 40% in the last month, and have lost over 50% in the last three months.
ISRO to launch ESA's Proba-3 mission to study sun’s corona
The Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) cost-effective launch solutions and proven capabilities have earned it the opportunity to launch the European Space Agency's Proba-3 mission, which will perform a unique phenomenon of creating artificial eclipses to study the sun’s corona, the outermost and hottest layer of its atmosphere.
Funding Deals
Student housing networks platform Homversity has raised $1 million in a pre-Series A round from Shuru-Up, IPV (Inflection Point Ventures), Value Angels, Vinners Group, TAS, Pro-Growth Ventures, Growth 91, and other investors.
Water-tech company Althion has raised Rs 3.6 crore in a pre-Series A funding round from IAN Group-powered BioAngels, along with participation from prominent investors Arun Seth, Om Manchanda, KNK Venkatraman, and Shubham Rastogi.
