India's first spy satellite made by Tata set for SpaceX liftoff
A satellite built by Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) is ready and on its way to Florida for launch on a SpaceX rocket. The control centre will direct the satellite’s path and process imagery that the armed forces can use to monitor infrastructure and acquire military targets. Capable of providing imagery with 0.5-meter spatial resolution, the satellite has been built in partnership with Satellogic — a Latin American company.
Govt in talks with EV firms overcharging system interoperability
The electric vehicle (EV) industry has been consulting with government officials, especially from the power ministry, as the latter tries to push interoperability between battery charging standards. In India, there is a push to move on from fast-charging protocols like the DC-001 to the new European Combined Charging System 2 (CCS-2). Some vehicles also use protocols like the Japanese CHArge de MOve (CHAdeMO).
Zepto introduces the membership program
Quick-commerce unicorn Zepto is experimenting with a membership program called Zepto Pass. Priced at Rs 99 per month, the membership offers unlimited free deliveries on orders costing over Rs 99 and discounts of up to 20% on certain orders.
FM to meet fintech heads next week
In the backdrop of the Reserve Bank of India's action against Paytm Payments Bank, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will meet heads of fintech firms. The meeting is scheduled for February 26. The meeting has been called to reassure the fintech industry that the sector remains a key priority for the government and allay any concerns following the RBI action.
Funding Deals
Train ticketing platform RailYatri has raised Rs 28.58 crore or $3.44 million in a mix of equity and debt funding round led by Mirabilis Investment Trust. The round also saw participation from NRJN Family Trust, Omidyar Network, and Blacksoil.
