Swiggy launches standalone app Snacc for 15-minute food delivery
Bengaluru-based Swiggy has launched a standalone app Snacc for 10-15 minute food delivery. The app has been rolled out on Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store. In contrast to Swiggy’s Bolt service, through which the firm offers rapid food delivery from restaurants, Snacc sells fast food, prepared meals and beverages. The service has been introduced in Bengaluru so far.
Microsoft announces $3 billion investment in India, to train 10 million in AI skills
Technology major Microsoft will dial up its presence in India with a $3 billion investment, chief executive Satya Nadella said on Tuesday during his India visit. Nadella, who met prime minister Narendra Modi on Monday, made a slew of announcements about supporting India’s cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. {Check complete news here}
Zomato launches 15-minute food delivery offering
Gurugram-based Zomato has launched a 15-minute food delivery service through its main app, offering quick deliveries from nearby restaurants, according to information on the company’s app. The new service by Zomato is similar to Swiggy's Bolt, which the Bengaluru-based company has said now accounts for over 5% of its total food delivery orders.
D2C beauty company Wow seeks strategic buyer at $250 million valuation
Wow Skin Science, a direct-to-consumer (D2C) beauty brand, is seeking a strategic buyer as its investors plan to exit the venture. Wow, valued at $400 million previously, is now in discussions to sell itself at a reduced valuation of around $250 million amid growing consolidation in the crowded D2C beauty space.
Funding Deals
Energy-tech startup EMO Energy has raised $6.2 million in its Series A funding round, led by Subhkam Ventures along with participation from the existing investor, Transition VC.
Electric motorcycle manufacturer Oben Electric has raised Rs 50 crore ($6 million) in a Series A funding round from Ambis Holding US, Kuberan Ventures, Karimjee Group, Mission Vertical, Sanjeev Saraf (Polyplex) Family Office, Pravek Kalp Family Office, and other existing investors.
Farm-to-face luxury skincare and personal care brand RAS has raised $5 million in its Series A round led by Unilever’s investment arm, Unilever Ventures. The round also saw participation from Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund.
Zoplar, a platform dedicated to enhancing the medical equipment procurement process for small and medium-sized hospitals, has raised $3.4 million in a Series A funding round led by Blume Ventures. The round also saw participation from Beenext, Saison Capital, Atrium Angels, Finfirst, and LogX.
Electric tractor technology company Moonrider has raised a seed round of $2.2 million (Rs 19 crore), co-led by AdvantEdge Founders and Micelio Technology Fund, along with a group of angel investors.
Sports startup KIBI Sports has raised $100,000 in a pre-seed funding round from angel investors such as Saurabh Aggarwal, Arpit Bhardwaj, Vartika Joshi, Suryansh Jain, Pranjal Bansal, Amit Kumar Sahu, Pratibha Rani, and Sushila.
