Netflix-ready to fight, offers video games⚔
Netflix Inc. is considering an expansion into video games, its first major foray beyond TV shows and films, and has hired a former Electronic Arts Inc.(EA) and Facebook Inc. executive to lead the effort. Mike Verdu will join Netflix as vice president of game development. It plans to deploy streamable games on its platform within the next year.
Unlike today, where you need an Xbox or a PlayStation console to play high-quality games, the future of gaming is where you pick a controller from your coffee table, click a button, and boom... you start competing with a friend or a bot, without having to pay for expensive hardware or new games every time!
High bandwidths and low latencies of 5G will bring about this shift. And the $200B gaming industry vs. the $70B film industry is a TAM multiplier that investors will adore.
RIL’s O2C, new energy biz may be valued more than $100Bn💰
Reliance currently operates in three verticals: oil-to-chemical (O2C), which includes its refineries, petrochemical plants, and fuel retailing; digital services, which includes Reliance Jio; and retail, which includes e-commerce. The fourth vertical will be New Energy.
Mukesh Ambani plans to invest Rs 75,000 crore in solar, batteries, fuel cells, and hydrogen, which could value the new energy business at $36Bn. It valued the O2C business at over $69Bn, digital services at USD 66 billion, and retail at USD 81.2 billion.
The entire conglomerate is worth over $261Bn.
The logic of investing in clean energy is compelling. $70 trillion will be spent globally on the energy transition over the next 30 years.
Ultimately, Reliance plans to offer a fully integrated end-to-end renewables energy ecosystem to customers through solar, batteries, and hydrogen.
