Heavily invested in India, building a local team here: Ted Sarandos, co-CEO, Netflix📺
Ted Sarandos, the co-CEO of Netflix, told during the Economic Times Global Business Summit that the streaming platform, after a tough first half of 2022 due to slow recovery from Covid-19 and shutting operations in Russia, is singularly focused on reigniting growth.
He said subscriber numbers may make for nice headlines but they're not a real business metric for the global streaming platform. “I'm proud to say that the viewing engagement in India grew by 30%, and our revenue grew by 25% last year. This wouldn't have happened if it wasn't tied to that engagement metric,” Sarandos said.
Sales of EV two-wheelers slow as govt stops subsidies🛵
Insiders in the electric two-wheeler industry told sales may fall short of the 1-million-unit target this fiscal year as the government has stopped disbursing subsidies to several manufacturers that are under investigation for alleged violation of local-sourcing rules.
According to industry estimates, subsidy payments of Rs 1,100 crore under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme have been held back.
