India recorded its best-ever haul of 7 medals🇮🇳
At Tokyo Olympics, India surpassed its previous best haul of six medals achieved in the 2012 London Games. Apart from Chopra's gold, India has won two silver and four bronze medals.

Neeraj Chopra's gold medal in the Javelin Throw helped India jump 18 positions in the medal total at the Tokyo Olympics. India has moved up to 47th place from 65th on Saturday.

Mirabai Chanu - 🥈
Mirabai Chanu, a weightlifter, awarded India its first Olympic medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Ace weightlifter put the disappointment of Rio 2016 behind her and lifted 202kg to win silver in the women's 49kg category. It was her maiden Olympic medal, and she became the second Indian weightlifter to do so after Karnam Malleswari.🏋🏻♀️
Lovlina Borgohain - 🥉
Lovina Borgohain secured a bronze medal in boxing. Lovlina is only the third Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal, following Vijender Singh (2008) and Mary Kom (2012). She also won a bronze medal at the 2018 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships and the 2019 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships.🥊
In 2020, she became the sixth person from Assam to receive Arjuna Award.
Lovlina Borgohain earned a bronze medal in the women's 69kg in her Games debut after losing to top seed Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey in the semi-finals.
Pusarla Venkata Sindhu - 🥉
PV Sindhu secured a bronze medal in the women's singles event, becoming the second Indian and the country's first woman to win two Olympic medals.
PV Sindhu beat China’s He Bing Jiao 21-13, 21-15 to win the bronze medal in the women’s singles.🏸
She is the first Indian to become the Badminton World Champion. She rose to a career-high world ranking of no. 2 in April 2017.
India's third confirmed medal for Tokyo 2020 was one more than they had in Rio in 2016.
Ravi Kumar Dahiya - 🥈
Another debutant at the Olympics, another medal for India.
Ravi Kumar Dahiya, 23, from a small town in Sonepat, Haryana, won a silver medal for India in Men's 57 kg wrestling at the Tokyo Olympics. This was India's fourth medal. He was unhappy after losing the final.🤼♂️
It was India's ninth silver medal in Olympic history, as well as the country's second silver medal in wrestling.
Men’s Hockey Team - 🥉
After a 41-year wait, the Indian men’s hockey team finally have an Olympic medal since the gold at the 1980 Moscow Olympics.
After being 3-1 down at one point, India made a big comeback to beat Germany 5-4 and claim the bronze medal.🏑
It is their third Olympic bronze medal - after the 1968 and 1972 Games - and their 12th Olympic medal overall. It was India’s fifth medal at Tokyo 2020.
Bajrang Punia - 🥉
Wrestler Bajrang Punia became the third Indian debutant to win a bronze medal at Tokyo 2020.
Bajrang Punia beat Kazakhstan’s Daulet Niyazbekov in the men’s 65kg freestyle wrestling playoff to claim the bronze.🤼♂️
It was India’s sixth medal of the Tokyo Olympics - equalling their best-ever haul at a single edition of the Olympics.
Neeraj Chopra - 🥇
Finally, India's national record holder in Javelin Throw, Neeraj Chopra secured a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Neeraj Chopra became India’s second individual Olympic champion - after Abhinav Bindra - with his men’s javelin throw gold at Tokyo 2020. It was India’s first track-and-field medal at any Olympic Games.⭐
The medal was India’s seventh at Tokyo 2020 - making it their best-ever haul at a single edition of the Olympics.
Neeraj Chopra threw 87.58m to clinch the gold medal.
The 23-year-old athlete from Harayana has been honored by several state governments and private organizations for his remarkable achievement.

Overall, India had a successful Olympics. There were also some disappointments, most notably Aditi Ashok, Mary Kom, and Deepak Punia. Nonetheless, India's performance at the Olympic Games 2020 was its best.
