Will Ola Electric boost India's EV movement?
With climate change and sustainability gaining traction in common conversation, people are becoming more interested in the electric space, notably electric scooters in India. From cars to bikes to scooters, all kinds of vehicles are getting electric.

Ola is planning to set up a manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu, which will employ more than 10,000 people. With advanced AI technology, Ola aims to manufacture and assemble 25,000 electric motors a day and a maximum of two lakh units of electric scooters in a year.
Let's see what the new Ola Electric Scooter has to offer:
1) Variants
Ola will launch the scooter in three variants, depending on the needs of the customers. The first variant will be basic and will have a 2kW motor. The top speed for the basic variant will be 45kmph. The second will be the mid variant and will have a 4kW motor. The middle variant will have a top speed of 70kmph. With a 7kW motor, the top-end variant will have a top speed of 95kmph.
2) Range
Ola claims a maximum riding range of 240 kilometers; however, this range is only possible if the pace is kept at 20 kmph. In real-world settings, Ola Electric Scooters have a range of 130-150 km.
3) Charging Time
If you charge it from a hyper charging station, it will take about two and a half hours to fully charge from zero. The batteries can be charged up to 50% in just 18 minutes at a hyper charging station. Using a standard socket at home, charging the scooter will take five and a half hours. When the battery is fully charged, the owner receives a notification via an app.
4) Other Features
A 7-inch touchscreen display is included with the scooter. The screen will provide critical scooter information as well as GPS navigation. Furthermore, the scooter has 4G connectivity and will offer functions such as Youtube, Calling, and so on. Furthermore, if an anomaly is detected, the scooter will diagnose it and send a report to both the owner and the service center. It also comes with a keyless ignition as well as a βfind my scooterβ feature.
5) Price
The Ola electric scooter is projected to cost between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.2 lakh before deductions are made through state-specific EV incentives and the FAME 2 scheme. One can avail as much as Rs 35,000 discount with policies combined. Ola is accepting bookings at Rs 499.
Hypercharger Stations:
Ola Electric scooter customers will get charging support from its Hypercharger setup installed in 400 Indian cities with over 100,000 locations/touchpoints.
Ola's Hypercharger stations will get a multilevel layout to support several customers simultaneously.
