Byju's pauses deal with footballer Lionel Messi
Byju’s deal with footballer Lionel Messi as its global brand ambassador for an 'education for all' campaign has been put on hold. The three-year deal was signed in November 2022 when Messi was roped in for an estimated $5-7 million per year.
Paytm crisis brings 30% market share cap plan back into focus
The Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) move against Paytm Payments Bank has rekindled discussions on the proposal for a ceiling of 30% market share by volume for unified payments interface (UPI) apps. The trouble at Paytm, which is the third largest such app, is likely to benefit the other two big players — PhonePe and Google Pay. The proposal for a market share cap had been floated to ‘de-risk’ from one or two platforms becoming too critical for payment volumes.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani has been ranked first among all Indians and second globally in the Brand Guardianship Index 2024 compiled by Brand Finance. He has ranked ahead of global corporate leaders such as Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai of Google, Apple's Tim Cook, and Tesla's Elon Musk.
Firms say instead of a blanket ban, axe deepfakes with ‘ill intent’
Social media companies have proposed that the government introduce proposals only to ban or take down content that was released with "criminal or ill intent" instead of imposing a blanket ban on "deepfakes" across the internet.

Deeptech startup Algorithmic Biologics (AlgoBio) has raised $2.5 million in its pre-series A round led by the Bharat Innovation Fund (BIF). The round also saw participation from Axilor Ventures
Spacetech startup EtherealX, which is working on reusable launch vehicles for satellites, has raised its first institutional funding from investors such as Campus Fund, BlueHill Capital, and Riceberg Ventures.
