Apple's India crop gets a boost in 2023, produces Rs 1 lakh crore iPhones
Apple's India ambitions achieved a major milestone after the tech giant produced iPhones worth over Rs 1 lakh crore in the country in 2023. Of this, made-in-India iPhones worth Rs 65,000 crore were exported in the January-December period.
Gruhas Collective Fund has Rs 150 crore for consumer startups
Nikhil Kamath and Abhijeet Pai-founded investment firm Gruhas has partnered with Mumbai-based creative talent management firm Collective Artists Network to form a new investment fund that will back 10-15 consumer startups.
Fintechs cornering SIP biz as direct MFs gain ground
Fintech startups are increasingly processing small-value systematic investment plans (SIPs) bringing in new investors into the market. According to industry data sourced from the Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi), fintechs have helped reduce the average value of each SIP to Rs 2,000-Rs 2,500 compared to above Rs 5,000 previously. Fintechs are leading from the front with the most number of new SIPs being registered per month.
Tata Power unveils ₹70,000-crore green energy push in Tamil Nadu
In a major commitment to clean energy, Tata Power announced a ₹70,000-crore investment to develop 10 gigawatts (GW) of solar and wind power capacity in Tamil Nadu over the next five to seven years.
Funding Deals
Bengaluru-based Retail SaaS startup Impact Analytics has closed $40 million in growth financing. This funding round was led by Sageview Capital with support from long-time partner Vistara Growth.
MakeO, the parent of dental tech startup Toothsi and skincare brand Skinnsi, has raised $16 million in a funding round led by 360 ONE Asset and the investment office of Ashish Kacholia. Existing investors Eight Roads Ventures, Paramark Ventures, and the family office of Medlife’s co-founders also joined the round.
Alternative investment platform Grip Invest has raised $10 million, in a mix of equity and debt, led by Stride Ventures, as part of its latest funding.
Karkhana.io, a custom manufacturing platform for manufacturing MSMEs, has raised $6.3 million in its Series A round led by Arkam Ventures and Susquehanna Asia Venture Capital. The round also saw participation from existing backer Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia and India.
PierSight, a satellite-based surveillance provider for the maritime industry, today announced the closing of a $6 million seed funding round co-led by Alpha Wave Ventures and Elevation Capital with participation from existing backer Techstars.
Mental health startup Amaha (formerly InnerHour) has raised $4.4 million in funding from Fireside Ventures in an extended Series A round.
Direct-to-consumer intimacy brand MyMuse has secured $2.7 million in a mix of debt and equity financing round (pre-Series A) led by Saama Capital along with participation from Sauce VC, Whiteboard Capital, Trifecta Capital and Kunal Shah.
Bengaluru-based warehouse robotics startup Accio Robotics has raised $1.8 million in its pre-Series A round led by BIG Capital, Unisync Angels, Daniel Fitzgerald along with existing backers such as Roots Ventures, and Anuj Bihani.
Recycled clothing manufacturer UNIREC has raised $190,000 (about Rs 1.5 crore) in a seed round led by BeyondSeed which is a Singapore-based company.
