Adani is in talks with Uber to own, and operate an EV fleet
The Adani group is planning to foray into the cab service space with electric vehicles in partnership with Uber. This comes after Uber chief Dara Khosrowshahi met with Gautam Adani last week, and discussed a potential strategic alliance. Adani Group is looking to become a fleet operator by purchasing and listing hundreds of electric four-wheelers on Uber.
Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal's Krutrim launches AI chatbot in beta mode
Krutrim Si Designs, an artificial intelligence (AI) startup founded by Ola Cabs and Ola Electric founder Bhavish Aggarwal on Monday launched its first product, a chatbot assistant, in beta mode. Called Krutrim Assistant, the chatbot website works as a personal generative artificial intelligence assistant that employs over 10 languages in its responses.
Amazon Pay secures payment aggregator licence from RBI
Amazon Pay, the digital payments arm of ecommerce major Amazon India, has received a payment aggregator (PA) licence from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Vijay Shekhar Sharma steps down as Paytm Payments Bank chair; board reconstituted
One 97 Communications Ltd (OCL), which runs Paytm, on Monday said founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma will be stepping down as part-time non-executive chairman and board member at associate entity Paytm Payments Bank Ltd (PPBL). The parent also withdrew all nominees from the payments bank’s board.
Funding Deals
Direct-to-consumer (D2C) luggage brand Mokobara has raised $12 million or Rs 100 crore in a Series B funding round led by Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia Capital India).
Bengaluru-based Blume Ventures has invested its largest maiden cheque of $10 million into Upward & Onward, a company that runs software- and artificial intelligence-linked upskilling platform Interview Kickstart.
InSolare, a leading renewables EPC company dedicated to customer-centric and technology-driven solutions, has raised Rs 66 crore (approximately $8 million) in a growth funding round led by Negen Capital. Mukul Mahavir Aggarwal, Anchorage Capital Fund and Ankit Mittal, Khazana Tradelink also participated in the round.
Beauty supplement startup Beautywise has raised Rs 6.5 crore led by AC Ventures and co-led by Fluid Ventures, Real Time Angel Fund (RTAF) and GSF. The round also saw participation from LetsVenture Angel Fund.
Spacefields, which designs and builds dual-use rocket propulsion systems, has raised $800,000 (Rs 6.5 crore) in a seed round led by HVB 88 Angels and O2 Angels Network.
Startup incubator and investment firm Venture Catalysts have invested an undisclosed amount in the ongoing pre-series A round of Knocksense, a hyperlocal content-commerce platform.
