Meet India’s own ChatGPT-style AI model Hanooman
'Hanooman', a series of open-source Indic language AI models developed by the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay in partnership with Seetha Mahalakshmi Healthcare (SML) is scheduled to be launched in late March. Hanooman can generate both text and speech in several Indian languages.
Bitcoin rallies for sixth day in a row, hits new record high of $71,500
Bitcoin hit a new record high on March 11 above $71,000, as the surge in the biggest cryptocurrency showed no signs of slowing down. It rose to $71,649.3, as per data on CoinDesk. The cryptocurrency has been boosted by a flood of cash into new spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETF) as well as hopes that the Federal Reserve will soon cut interest rates.
Byju’s to vacate several offices in cost-cutting drive may give up HQ partially
In a bid to prune costs, edtech major Byju’s is downsizing some of its smaller assets across the country. For this, the cash-strapped firm has identified multiple offices and tuition centers ranging between 500 and 1,000 sq ft in 17 cities.

India will develop its own foundational models, minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on Monday. This comes less than a week after the Union Cabinet approved a Rs 10,371.92-crore India Artificial Intelligence Mission for the next five years to create computing infrastructure.
Funding Deals
Lohum Cleantech, a producer of clean energy transition materials through battery recycling and repurposing, has raised Rs 119 crore (approximately $14.5 million) as a part of its ongoing Series B round. Singularity Growth led the round with the participation of Vyoman India and Baring Private Equity. Angel investors Mukul Mahavirparasad Agarwal and Madhuri Madhusudan also participated.
Alternative credit platform BlackSoil, the flagship arm of BlackSoil Group, has raised Rs 100 crore in equity funding through a rights issue, with participation from its existing Indian investors and family offices.
Energy-tech firm Kimbal Technologies has raised $5 million in funding, led by investment advisory firm Niveshaay with investors like Ayush Mittal, promoter of Mittal Analytics, and Sandeep Kapadia among others.
Attron Automotive, a precision-engineered motor and controller solutions provider, has raised Rs 4.75 crore in its seed round led by Anicut Capital and co-led by Venture Catalysts. Pontaq VC and angel investor Yashovardhan Shah have also participated in the seed round.
Fintech startup AuthPay has secured $450K in a pre-seed round of funding led by SCOPE VC.
Lifestyle hospitality brand Quorum Club has secured an undisclosed amount in a pre-Series A funding round led by Gruhas.
